Know Your Counterfeits | Different Bills Glow Different Colors Under Ultraviolet Light

The ultraviolet flashlight is a great way to identify counterfeit bills or credit cards. True and legitimate money bills and credit cards have ultraviolet marks that will glow. In money notes, the bill will glow under ultraviolet lights if it authentic. What I until recently didn’t know was that different bills will actually glow different colors.
According to the U.S. Treasury Department, the following bills will display these colors under an ultraviolet flashlight:
- $5: Blue
- $10: Orange
- $20: Green
- $50: Yellow
- $100: Red
…Pretty amazing. Keep this in mind as you are checking cash as it comes into your retail register.
