Sometimes we overlook the police gear that is actually of incredible importance.  When it comes to law enforcement gear, the average person thinks of the uniform, weapons and bullets, bulletproof vests, and handcuffs. There are other items that are important parts of law enforcement gear that are just as vital for keeping the officer safe and improving their ability to capture a criminal. One of the most important items would be a LED flashlight.

High Brightness LED Lights For All Shapes and Sizes

While the name “high brightness LED” is fairly self explanatory there are certain aspects of the name that are not entirely self-descriptive. It is obvious that such an LED can illuminate an area to a significant degree, but what shape is the illumination and how broad is the bright light it puts out? To answer that question you need to know what type of lens the flashlight uses. That is another huge benefit of LED flashlights - they come with a number of different lenses which provide a variety of shapes to the illuminating light.

Police officers, crime scene investigators and something in common with airline ticket agents and cashiers.  Both groups rely on ultraviolet lights to keep us safe.  Law enforcement personnel need ultraviolet light sources to help detect blood and minerals at a crime scene in order to catch a criminal.  Airlines and cashiers rely on ultraviolet lights to detect fraud and counterfeit documents and money.  All of these groups can benefit from a multipurpose, easy to use ultraviolet light.

Second Responder Bill Will Train Construction Professionals For Disasters

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton introduced the Skilled Trades Second Responder Act of 2007 in December 2007 as a means to establish a comprehensive system for construction workers to assist first responders in the event of a disaster or attack.  The bill would give $35 million dollars toward the training, certification, registration and integration of skilled construction workers into disaster response activities.  The bill, which is currently in the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committee for approval, would also put a database and response system in place to mobilize these “second responders.”

Product Review | Convertible Tactical Weapon Mount Light

Adding a light to a handgun or rifle can increase their effectiveness tremendously.  Some law enforcement officers and most military personnel utilize powerful lights that can be mounted to a weapon to enhance their field of vision, improve their accuracy and free up a hand for other uses like steadying a larger gun or sending hand signals to the others working with them.  Many mounted lights to date have used high-powered xenon bulbs. Though effective, they lack the benefits found in LED lights.
